Get to know the course

Rescue Run is not your typical 'Mud Run' - it is so much more.

2018 is going to be 5 times as epic, with brand new challenges & obstacles to rival our first year.

On a scale never-before-seen in New Zealand (or the world!)... these obstacles are extreme.  We're talking a 60-metre-long earthquake zone made out of concrete & lined with challenges... Mudslides that are bigger than you can imagine!  This will be an experience to rival all other adventure races.

Competitors are timed across a 15km high intensity obstacle course with points awarded for a variety of team challenges. Obstacle disaster zones are insane; designed by disaster relief & emergency service professionals including Civil Defence, Land Search & Rescue Auckland, St John, Surf Life Saving Northern Region, CoastGuard Northern Region,
Fire & Emergency (FENZ) Northwest Volunteer Brigades’, and more... they will each simulate real-world rescue scenarios.

Check the below for 2018 indicative map, 2016 map, and challenge scenarios!

The Patient Rescue

The Patient Rescue Zone is a simulated first responder challenge. Using GPS technology, teams are tasked with locating survival equipment, rescuing an injured patient, performing first aid and an emergency evacuation.

The Flood Zone

The Flood Zone features a large water maze obstacle that simulates a series of submerged city streets. Teams will need to navigate an escape at various depths, while keeping their patient warm and dry.

The Mudslide

The Mudslide Zone tests a team’s strength and endurance. The key here is to carry their patient through the flow of mud and water by sending someone across to anchor for a guide rope to assist in their struggle to climb out.

The Car Pile up

The Car Pile-up Zone features a multi-vehicle motorway crash site. Teams will traverse a chaotic accident simulation filled with noise, smoke, fire and screams.

The Earthquake Zone

The Earthquake Zone forces teams into a quake aftermath simulation featuring damaged buildings & debris. They’ll need to act fast, assess damage, find a safe passage and retrieve an injured patient from the rumble.
